Little Bo Peep

Little Bo Peep,
Has lost her sheep,
And doesn't know where to find them,
Leave them alone,
And they'll come home,
Bringing their tales behind them.

This rhyme was first published in 1805

Although 'bo peep' was a colloquialism for being punished with the stocks and pillory there is no firm evidence of a historical or political message to this rhyme other than a warning of the consequences of not watching you sheep carefully.
